🍵 Best Matcha Lattes in Mexico City, Mexico 🍵

Reviewing all the matcha lattes I’ve tried in Mexico City, Mexico

Read the intro post here.

I visited Mexico City (CDMX) in March 2024 and I loved the city - I couldn’t get over the lushness, cleanliness, endless vegan food options. Full post to come soon on all the places we visited.

I made the mistake of looking at someone’s Instagram story before I left on my trip and they were saying they’d had the best matcha in CDMX which led me to have high hopes on the entire trip. Sadly, I don’t think I found anything seriously worth recommending but listing them all out below so you can avoid the same mistakes I made!

In an effort to not cause any tummy troubles, I avoided iced drinks (in case the ice cubes were made with tap water) in all but our first stop of the trip (Cururucho Coffee). I do think that hot drinks sometimes take away from the true taste of the matcha, but I don’t think that any of these were made with high-quality matcha to begin with.

The colour of the matcha was promising but it tasted primarily of milk with an extremely faint and barely-there matcha taste. This was our first drink of the trip so I made the mistake of getting it iced.

From the colour, I could tell that this was going to be a decent one. This was a pretty solid latte and I would get it again (over the other options mentioned here).

Lardo, 4 ⭐️

We stumbled upon Lardo when going on our last walk in the city and it didn’t let us down. I didn’t have high hopes at this point, and this was pretty similar to the Anvil Café one - their fig croissant was incredible though.

This cafe is located in the famous bookstore cafe in Polanco - while it’s a beautiful store, definitely don’t get the matcha. It tasted like milk with barely any matcha flavour.

Mora Mora, 2 ⭐️

Mora Mora was an amazing acai bowl, avocado toast and smoothie place but their iced matcha lattes were horrendous. I’m not sure if the oat milk was expired, but it was absolutely unpalatable. The hot latte wasn’t bad.
