Chocolate monkey superfood smoothie
🍫 Chocolate lovers unite!! This chocolate peanut butter shake is packed with fibre, protein, healthy fats and omega 3s - making it my go-to when I'm pressed for time, craving dessert or don't know what else to make 😅
The recipe is pretty flexible to your tastes and consistency preferences but here's what works for me!
1 ripe banana (better if frozen)
2-3 pitted dates
1/4 cup rolled oats
1.5 tablespoons cacao powder (be sure to use cacao and not cocoa!!)
2 tablespoons hemp hearts
2 tablespoons ground flax seed
1 tablespoon chia seeds
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
1 tablespoon peanut butter
1 cup of plant milk (or more depending on preferences, if it's too thick then I'll add cold water)
handful of spinach (I love adding this in for extra nutrients but it'll turn your smoothie to a murky green-brown colour)
optional: garnish with cacao nibs
Throw it all in a blender and blend away! I scramble to put away all the ingredients in that 45 seconds to minimize clean up time
